STRATEGIC PLAN

The Counterstroke Fiji Strategic Plan was developed and adopted in 2007. Operational (3-year) and Annual Workplans have been developed from this Strategic Plan. The latest iteration, adopted at the 2023 Annual General Meeting, covers the period 2023-2030. It provides guidance for the achievement of Counterstroke Fiji’s Vision and Mission.

Establishing the Organisation

Registered Counterstroke Fiji as a formal NGO, established governance structures and the inaugural board, and conducted baseline community needs assessments across Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, and key outer islands.

Building Community Awareness

Launched the FAST awareness campaign across Fijian communities. Delivered stroke education workshops in partnership with the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWM) and local health centres. Established digital presence and the Counter Stroke Fiji helpline.

Deepening Health System Integration

Partnering with the Fiji Ministry of Health to embed stroke prevention messaging into primary healthcare visits. Training community health workers in stroke recognition and first response. Piloting rehabilitation support groups in Suva and Lautoka.

Scaling to Outer Islands & Pacific

Replicate proven community education models to Taveuni, Savusavu, Labasa, and maritime island communities. Establish the first Pacific Islands Stroke Network to share resources and best practices with Vanuatu, Tonga, and Samoa.
